Specialty Features: The program can be traced back to the re-established Jimei Teacher Training School in 1977. The undergraduate program was started in 1998, and the postgraduate program initiated its enrollment in 2015. Since the school running, it has trained a large number of outstanding primary and secondary education talents for Fujian province and even the whole country.
The program focuses on the cultivation of students' practical ability. It has set up teacher training bases in more than a dozen qualified schools in Xiamen city, and employs many famous English language teachers in Xiamen to take the lecturing roles of English Teaching Course Series. There are abundant activities in the second class, such as English Corner, English journal Footmark and Wang Shuijiu-sponsored English Stage Play Competition, etc.. Students are encouraged to participate in the high-level competitions such as FLTRP English Series, Teacher Skills Competition for Normal University Students, and Han-Suyin Translation Competition; We organize students to participate in economic and cultural construction programs of Western Taiwan Strait, and more than 50% of them have experienced in such activities as China Investment and Trade Fair, Xiamen International Stone Exhibition, Xiamen International Marathon, Western Taiwan Strait Automobile Fair, Cross-strait Cultural Expo, Tea Fair, Summer Volunteer Teaching Program and other practical activities.
Training Objectives: This program is to cultivate students with lofty teacher ethics, solid basic English language skills, strong cross-cultural ability, sound professional English knowledge and English teaching knowledge, with a sense of social responsibility, integrity and perseverance, international vision and innovation ability, to meet the needs of national and local economic and social development. Graduates shall be qualified with English teaching, management and research in secondary schools or the like educational institutions. Five to ten years after their graduation, the students will be able to become the backbones of English teaching in middle schools at or above the district-level in Fujian province.
