Specialty Features: In 2006, the English specialty began its training discipline in two directions: English Language (teaching) and English Language (business). English Language (business) is enrolled as English major, and the training program is based on business English major. Since its establishment, English Language (business) has cultivated a large number of excellent international business English talents for Fujian province and even the whole country.
This major focuses on the cultivation of students' practical ability. It has long-term cooperation with more than 20 enterprises and institutions in Xiamen and sends students to the training bases for internship every year. There are abundant activities in the second class. Professional activities such as English Corner, the English journal Footmark, "Wang Shuijiu-sposored" English Stage Play Competition are held all year round. We actively organize students to participate in high-level competitions such as FLTRP English Series, Business English Skills Competition and Han-Suyin Translation Competition; We organize students to participate in the economic and cultural construction of Western Taiwan Strait, and more than 50% of them participate in China International Investment and Trade Fair, Xiamen International Stone Exhibition, Xiamen International Marathon, Western Taiwan Strait Automobile Fair, Cross-strait Cultural Expo, Tea Fair, Summer Volunteer Teaching Program and other practical activities.
Training Objectives: The goal of the Business English Programme is to cultivate students with a lofty international vision and humanistic quality, solid basic English language skills, extensive English language and cultural knowledge. The graduates are supposed to get a thorough knowledge of China's national conditions, understand the global economy, master professional English business knowledge and business skills, and be familiar with the prevailing rules and practices of international business. They shall be equipped with English application ability, business practice ability, cross-cultural communication ability, critical-thinking and innovation ability, independent learning ability, with a sense of social responsibility, with the character of "honesty and perseverance", to serve the national strategy and market demand, especially to serve the 21st century Maritime Silk Road and the demand of economic construction in the West of the Taiwan Straits. The graduates are required to able to engage in business communication, foreign trade, cultural exchange, secretarial work and other compound work related with foreign language talents. 5 to 10 years after their graduation, students should have the ability to become business backbones, middle management personnel and independent entrepreneurs in the foreign-related industries.
